Description
Portrait of Lieutenant Eric James Germain Bowden, Australian Flying Corps (AFC), of Hobart, Tas. An electrical engineer with four years experience in the Citizens' Military Forces (CMF) prior to enlistment, Bowden enlisted on 29 May 1917 and embarked in June aboard HMAT Beltana (A73). He was posted to the AFC training depot at Wendover in September 1917 as 3rd Equipment Officer and returned to Australia in June 1919. His batman is listed on the verso as "Chalk" Halton, however no further detail about him is known.
