Portrait of 3215 Private (Pte) Herbert Pidd, 52nd Battalion, of Nerang, Qld. Formerly a labourer, Pte Pidd enlisted on 10 October 1916, and as a member of the 8th Reinforcements he embarked from Sydney, NSW, aboard HMAT Demosthenes (A64) on 23 December 1916. He served on the Western Front where he was killed in action during the battle of Passchendaele on 21 October 1917, Aged 28 years.
