Studio portrait of NX40577 Corporal (Cpl), later Lieutenant, Roger William McGee, 2/18 Infantry Battalion, of Warialda, NSW, who was a grazier prior to enlisting in June 1940. He arrived in Singapore as an Acting Corporal in February 1941 and was promoted to Corporal a few days later. Cpl McGee commenced officer training in Singapore in May 1941 and was appointed Lieutenant (Lt) the following August. He was subsequently transferred to 2/19 Battalion. Lt McGee was killed in action in Malaya on 9 February 1942. He was 27 years of age.
