Studio portraits of three Davidson brothers. Left, 1120 Private (Pte) Harold Alfred Davidson, 12th Light Horse Regiment, of Boggabilla, NSW; centre, 48 Pte William Patrick Davidson, 26th Battalion, of Longreach, Qld. On the right, Robert Davidson, however, given the commonness of the name, no details of his service can be confirmed. This is also the case with a fourth brother, George Davidson, of whom no portrait is known. Pte Harold Davidson embarked from Sydney with the 5th Reinforcements on board HMAT Themistocles (A32) on 5 October 1915. He was later transferred to the 1st Field Squadron Engineers and served on the Western Front. Pte Harold Davidson returned to Australia on 3 July 1919; 48 Pte William Davidson, was a stockman prior to enlisting in February 1915. He embarked from Brisbane on board HMAT Ascanius (A11) on 24 May 1915. Pte William Davidson arrived at Gallipoli in September 1915 and although hospitalised several times with illness, remained until the evacuation in December. He arrived in France for service on the Western Front in March 1916 and from April until July was attached to a sniper's unit. He rejoined his battalion on 13 July 1916 and was killed in action on 29 July 1916. Pte William Davidson was 27 years of age.
