Always in the name of God
This inkjet print is a sophisticated melange of motifs that Bennett has sourced form a variety of influences and from his own observations. It incorporates the outline of the New York cityscape to indicate the place and time of the attacks on the World Trade Center. The September 11 event is represented through the second aeroplane on a direct path to the Twin Towers that are already a scene of chaos. Below is a host of bodies and heads alongside a black bible with a white crucifix inscribed with 'morte' (death). Set against the pink pixel background that is overwritten by Islamic script references from the Koran, this is an considered print that addresses the political, social and global complexities of the War on Terror. This edition of the print is the artist's proof.
