Kesteven, Kenneth Leighton (Lieutenant, b.1915 - d:c.1999)
Description
Collection relating to the Second World War service of NX4012 Lieutenant Kenneth Leighton Kesteven, 2/4 Battalion. Collection consists of three POW letters/postcards written by Kesteven to Miss Mary Passalaris from a German prisoner of war camp, during 1941-43. Also included is an 1945 letter from the Army to the Red Cross enquring about Kesteven, and the Red Cross response.
Kesteven served with 2/4 Battalion in Greece/Crete, where he was taken prisoner of war and sent to a camp in Germany. He had met Miss Passalaris in Egypt, where she had been teaching him French. Kesteven survived the war and returned to Australia.
