Studio portrait of 1480 Private (later Trooper) Stewart Courtney Gaden, 7th Light Horse Regiment of Wollstonecraft, NSW. A station hand prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard the HMAT Euripides (A14) on 2 November 1915. He was wounded in action at Bir Etmaler, Egypt on 5 August 1917 and died of his wounds on 6 August 1916, aged 23. He is buried in the Kantara War Memorial Cemetery, Egypt.
