Description
Studio portrait of 1218 Corporal (later Sergeant) Walter Everard Rea,13th Battalion of Parramatta, NSW. A surveyor's assistant prior to enlisting, he embarked from Melbourne aboard the HMAT Berrima (A38) on 22 December 1914. He was killed in action on 4 May 1915 at the Dardanelles, Turkey, aged 20. Post war his body was not recovered and he is remembered with honour on the Lone Pine Memorial, Turkey.
