Studio portrait of 4210 Private Colin Ferguson Hood, 3rd (later 2nd) Battalion of Auburn, NSW. A carriage builder prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Aeneas (A60) on 30 December 1915. He was killed in action near Pozieres, France on 24 July 1916 when a shell burst and buried him in a bunker , aged 24. He has no known grave and is remembered with honour on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France.
