Studio portrait of 5198 Private Harry Stanmore, 2nd Battalion of Manly, NSW. A newsagent prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard SS Makarini on 1 April 1916. He was killed in action on 19 September 1917 near Polygon Wood, Belgium, aged 32. He has no known grave and is remembered with honour on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium.
