Studio portrait of 5825 Private Lewis James Carter Muffett, 18th Battalion of Forest Lodge, NSW. A labourer prior to enlisting, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Ceramic (A40) on 7 October 1916. He was killed in action near Zonnebeke, Belgium, on 9 October 1917, aged 20. He has no known grave and is remembered with honour on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium.
