Army hospital patient's dressing gown
Description
Dark grey brushed finish wool serge army hospital patient's dressing gown with shawl collar, closed down the front with three large black plastic buttons. A smaller concealed black plastic button fastens with a self fabric tab to hold the garment closed near the hem if required. There are two belt loops sewn to the waist and two patch pockets below the waist. A black embroidered white label inside the neck reads: 'V.415 MADE IN AUSTRALIA 1943/ SIZE/CHEST/ HEIGHT'. The original twisted and tasselled cord belt is missing.
History / Summary
Army hospital patients were issued with pyjamas and dressing gowns during hospital stays. The garments remained the property of the army.
