Studio portrait of 1976 Private (Pte) Henry Melton Marsden, Light Trench Mortar Battery, of Sydney, NSW; formerly of Sheffield England. A labourer prior to enlisting in November 1916, Pte Marsden embarked from Sydney with the 6th Reinforcements on board RMS Osterley on 10 February 1917. He was transferred to the 63rd Battalion in April 1917. In August he was transferred to the 36th Battalion and arrived in France for service on the Western Front. Pte Marsden served in France and Belgium and was killed in action in France on 12 April 1918. He was 32 years of age.
