Description
Studio group portrait of five infantry reinforcements from Victoria. Identified (standing) are 2637 Private (Pte) Oswald Leslie Dellar, 22 Battalion, a 21 year old sleeper-hewer from Heathcote; his brother 2250 Pte Roy Leonard Dellar, 23 Battalion, a 19 year old driver from South Melbourne; (seated, and all in the 22nd Battalion) 2630 Pte Ernest Davies, a 25 year old storeman from Maldon; 2763 Pte George Oakley, a 25 year old driller from Archie's Creek; 2811 Pte Eric Mostyn Thomson, a 21 year old grocer from Richmond. Pte Mostyn was killed in action in France on 19 July 1916. The others in this portrait all survived the war to return to Australia in 1919.
