Informal group portrait of three members of the 2/3 Australian Flash Spotting Battery RAA, at the Cafe Atara. Identified left to right: NX30556 Sergeant (Sgt) Alan Henry Rimes; NX15932 Sergeant Darcey Croft and Sergeant Bill McCarthy. Sgt Croft served initially with 2/1 Survey Regiment and B Troop, 2/3 Flash Spotting Battery. Prior to enlistment he had three years experience with Hall and Company photographers, to March 1940. On 3 September 1942, Sgt Croft was appointed as an Official unit photographer for the 2/3 Australian Flash Spotting Battery by the Commanding Officer Captain S Powell.
