Description
Group studio portrait of Private (Pte) Nicholson (left), 3319 Pte Peter Hammond (middle), and 1914 Pte Archibald George Grice (right). Pte Hammond, 2nd Battalion, a wharf labourer from Singapore, East Indies, enlisted with the Australian Imperial Force on 3 August 1915. He embarked from Sydney, on HMAT Euripides (A14) on 2 November 1915, aged 24. Pte Hammond was transferred to the 53rd Battalion on 16 February 1916 and returned to Australia 25 May 1919. The three men have signed the bottom of the photograph.
