3rd Divisional Football Team: associated with C.G Craig
Description
Group portrait of the 3rd Divisional Football Team at the front entrance of the Cafe du Sports, a hotel where they dined whilst in Belgium. This photograph was sent by 2532 Private (Pte) Cyril George Craig of the 3rd Pioneer Battalion to his mother and bears the autographs of the team on the reverse side and the inscription, 'Souhaite et bon souvenirs a nos amis'. This translates to 'Good memories and wishes to our friends.' Each member of the team was given a copy of this photograph by the owner of the hotel as a souvenir of their time there. According to Pte Craig's account the team also gave the owner and his wife a present each when they left.
