Craig, Cyril George (Private, b.1898)
Collection relating to the First World War service of 2532 Private Cyril George Craig, 3rd Pioneer Battalion, Australian Infantry Force. Collection consists of a diary with leather cover with a few entries from 1919 and addresses and contains pressed flowers and a perfume card between the pages; plus an address book in green cover with presses flowers between the pages and a small pencil attached. The address book is contained within a leather wallet, engraved with C G Craig and contains photos and postcard some of which are written in German. Also included is letter from Pte Craig regarding a photo of the 3rd Divisional Football Team and copy of the photograph; a Discharge certificate; Leave pass; paybook receipt; handwritten list of contents of kit taken by the Quarter master before proceeding on football tour; Letter to Pte Craig from Mrs Raymond E Gampp thanking Pte Craig for forwarding her husband's, Corporal Raymond E Gampp, 10th Infantry Regiment, 27th Division, US Army, prayer book as she had yet to receive any of his other belongings. The collection also contains postcards, two half burnt unsent postcards from Pte Craig, two written to Pte from Frank and Aielor [?] and a post card written by 280 George Muston, 3rd infantry Battalion on the night he left for France to be returned to him when he got back.
