Studio portrait of 3170 Private (Pte) William Hardy Newton, 25th Battalion, of Brisbane, Qld. A boildermaker prior to enlistment, he embarked with the 7th Reinforcements aboard HMAT Itonus on 30 December 1915. Pte Newton was killed in action at Pozieres, France on 1 March 1917. He was 20 years of age.
