Description
Informal portrait of Lieutenant (Lt) John George Donald McNeill sitting, having just opened a can of plum pudding. Lt McNeill embarked with the rank of 2nd Lt with B Squadron, 5th Light Horse Regiment. In April 1916 he was promoted to Captain. Four months later he was wounded by a gun shot to the spine and he was invalided back to Australia on 1 September 1916. During the Second World War, he volunteered for service in the 2nd AIF achieving the rank of Brigadier. (This image appears on page 16 of the album P09621 housed in the AWM archive store)
