Mrs Slaughter, mother of 910908 Sergeant (Sgt) Robert W Slaughter, RAF, placing flowers on the grave of 425115 Flight Sergeant (Flt Sgt) Norman William Buchanan, RAAF, at Aabenraa Cemetery, Denmark. Fl Sgt Buchanan and Sgt Slaughter served in the same crew in 49 Squadron RAF. During a precision raid on the German research establishment at Peenemunde, Denmark, their Lancaster aircraft (JA691 EA-L) was shot down by a German night fighter with no survivors. The crew are all buried at Aabenraa Cemetery.
