1979 Lieutenant (Lt) Horace Walter Duncan, 2nd Mechanical Transport Company, receiving the Belgian Croix de Guerre in Adelaide, SA, in 1920. Lt Duncan, from Adelaide, embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Ceramic (A40), as a Corporal Driver Mechanic, in December 1914. He received the award for stopping two bolting horses attached to a water wagon in Heilly, France in 1916, and, thus, avoiding damage to public property.
