Kyoto Maru, Malahang Beach
Description
Shipwreck is likely to be the Myoko Maru, also known as the "Malahang Wreck", which was still intact when the Allies captured Lae in September 1943. On board were bicycles, barbed wire and motorcycles; its hull plates were salvaged by May 1944 and coal from the ship was used in the Australian army camp at Lae.
