75 Page manuscript. The manuscript examines a number of key events from the first 20 years after federation, except the First World War. Events and periods discussed include: The visit of the 'Great White Fleet' in 1908; 1911 and the introduction of Universal Service, the coronation of King George V and the formation of the Royal Australian Navy; 1913 and the Arrival of HMAS Australia; The 1916 and 1917 conscription referenda; The air-race to Australia in 1919; 1920 and the visit of the Prince of Wales' visit to Australia; A number of smaller topics such as the first year after federation, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, symbols of Australia, and the 1919 Influenza pandemic are also presented. For each of the topics examined there is also assessment and suggestions as to how they could be presented in the galleries of the Australian War Memorial.
