51 page manuscript. The manuscript examines the experience of war brides in relation to Australian servicemen. The manuscript first explains what role women may have been in when meeting servicemen. Secondly the manuscript examines where and how servicemen would meet women. The third aspect examined is the role played by wartime communications in development of the relationsips. Fourthly the manuscript looks at the nature of the marriages themselves, and the paperwork and cultural issues revolving around it. Next the manuscript examines the process of migration for war brides and their experiences of the process, this is followed by examining some of the issues faced by the couples post-conflict. Finally the manuscript examines what aspects could deal with further research. Two appendices are included, Appendix A contains transcripts of letters from Australian servicemen relating to women, Appendix B is a copy of the article 'Love & War' from 'Signals', the journal of the National Maritime Museum.
