Description
'Ron took this to show my tidy bed. It was taken on a Sunday afternoon three weeks ago when I was sewing my blankets into a form of sleeping bag. The trees in the background are olives in the olive grove I often speak of. I have quite a few other snaps to send but there's not room in this letter. The boys have asked me to mention that I have shorts on. Oct 1941.' NX53000 Gunner (Gnr) John Dugald Alexander McDonald, 2/5 Field Regiment, RAA, used his ingenuity to sew his blanket into a sleeping bag at a camp at Bsarma, a small village near Tripoli. Gnr McDonald was killed in action on 16 November 1942 in Papua, aged 32.
