Description
Recruitment poster for the Citizen Military Forces issued after the Second World War. Designed by Walter Jardine one of Australia's most renowned poster artists of the period the gruesome image is of two hands desperately trying to hold back a bayonet. The use of images relating to Australian experiences of the Second World War evidences the ongoing impact of the War in shaping the political and social landscape of the 1950s. At a time when Australians were soon to be involved in yet another conflict (the Korean War).
