Nye, George Albert Edward
Collection relating to the Second World War military service with the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) of 413025 Flight Lieutenant (Flt Lt) George Albert Edward Nye. Comprises Flt Lt Nye's original Pilot's Flying Logbook from November 1941 when he was completing his training with 4 EFTS (Elementary Flying Training School) Mascot, Australia, until May 1945 when completing advanced Link Training with 132 OTU (Operational Training Unit) East Fortune, Scotland. Nye also trained at 6 SFTS (Service Flying Training School - RAAF) Mallala, South Australia, as well as in the United Kingdom at 15 (P) AFU (Pilot's Advanced Flying Unit - RAF) in Ramsbury, Wiltshire and No 1 Beam Approach School (RAF) in Watchfield. In October 1944, Nye became a Flying Instructor, and at when discharged from the RAAF was posted to 455 Squadron. Collection also includes a hand drawn map of an area to the north of Adelaide, South Australia, most likely from his time at SFTS Mallala in 1942.
