Outdoors portrait of 3431 Sergeant (Sgt) Archibald John McNab, 1st Battalion. A letter cutter from Lidcombe, NSW prior to enlistment, Sgt McNab enlisted with the rank of Private with the 11th Reinforcements from Sydney on HMAT Themistocles on 5 October 1915. Following his transfer to the 53rd Battalion he was promoted to Lance Sergeant. Later Transferring to the 62nd Battalion, he was promoted to Sergeant and returned to Australia on 10 December 1918. Two brothers, 25614 Bombardier William Paterson McNab and Captain Donald Alexander McNab also served in the 1st AIF.
