Australian soldiers from the 2/10th Field Ambulance outside a dilapidated building on Ambon. Ambon was captured by the Japanese forces in February 1942 and the Australian barracks at Tan Tui became a prisoner of war (POW) camp for the remainder of the Australian forces on the island. The 2/10th Field Ambulance were stationed on Ambon between 20 September 1945 - 21 January 1946 and were responsible for the care of Japanese POWs and the local Ambonese population.
