Aeroplane dance performed on a beach. Aeroplane dances are a form of traditional performance found predominantly in Melanesian, Polynesian and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. The performances generally feature miniature aeroplane headresses instead of animal totems. This image forms part of a collection relating to the service of Major General John Joseph Murray, MC DSO and his command of the 4th Division in Northern Queensland during the Second World War.
