Description
Portrait of 1655 Private (Pte) Edward Leonard Carlyon (seated), 13th Light Trench Mortar Battery (LTM Bty), with an unidentified soldier of the 5th Division. A wheat agent from Wilmington, South Australia, Pte Carlyon enlisted in March 1916 and embarked with the 50th Battalion, 2nd Reinforcements, aboard HMAT Aeneas (A60) on 11 April 1916. Shortly after arriving in France, he was transferred to the 13th LTM Bty. Pte Carlyon returned to Australia on 12 May 1919.
