From the Thuillier collection of glass plate negatives, taken by Louis and Antoinette Thuillier in Vignacourt, France during the period 1916 to 1918.
Group portrait of three Australian soldiers of the 2nd Division. The soldier on the right is possibly 1541 Sergeant (Sgt) Harold George Corbett, 26th Battalion, who was wounded in action in August 1918 and returned to Australia in January 1919. It could also be 407 Sgt George William Seymour DCM, 26th Battalion. Sgt Seymour was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal for gallantry and devotion to duty on 5 February 1918 when he rushed an enemy machine gun post and killed two of the crew. Sgt Seymour returned to Australia in 1918. Both these men held the rank of sergeant with the 26th Battalion, and both were present while their unit was camped at Vignacourt.
