Black Prince
Description
The image is of the Black Prince, a British Royal Navy large cruiser of the Duke of Edinburgh class. The vessel was launched in 1904. It was active in the Red Sea at the advent of the First World War, and at the end of 1914 joined the Grand Fleet based out of Great Britain. The Black Prince was sunk by gunfire at Jutland in May 1916. The artist has depicted the Black Prince with fittings prior to 1914.
