Secret sky over Palembang
Description
Depicts two Bristol Blenheim bombers against a background featuring the red and blue Indonesian megamendang raincloud motif. Such planes were flown by the artist's great-uncle, RAF serviceman George Mutton, before his death as a result of an aircraft accident on 12 February 1942 at Secret Aerodome No.2, Palembang, Indonesia. Sergeant Mutton's burial site has never been identified.
