Jungle green cap : Lieutenant M F Hopcraft, Royal Australian Army Nursing Corps
Jungle green cotton trill peaked fatigue cap with soft crown. Attached to the inside of the cap is the manufacturers label 'CGCF / VICTORIA / SIZE-65/8" / [broad arrow symbol]'. Written on the label in black marker 'F25129 AHERN' and in blue marker 'HOPCRAFT'.
Worn by F25129 Lieutenant Margaret Fay Hopcraft (née Ahern), Royal Australian Nursing Corps (RAANC) during her Vietnam War service. This cap would have been worn while she was on duty at night. Hopcraft, Lieutenant Colleen Mealy, Captain Amy Pittendreigh and Lieutenant Terri Roche made up the first group of Australian army nurses to arrive in Vietnam in May 1967. She served with 8th Field Ambulance from 6 May 1967 to 31 March 1968 and 1 Australian Field Hospital from 1 April 1968 to 8 May 1968.
