German Signal Pistol
Description
German signal pistol with a 'derringer' style break open brass frame stamped G.W.5 and on the butt ST B14. The brass barrel is half round and half octagonal. The plain wood grips are held to the frame by a single screw bolt.
History / Summary
This pistol was owned by the late Major-General E. Tivey, C.B., C.M.G., D.S.O., V.D. He served in the South African War and the 1914- 1918 War. In the latter he commanded the 8th Infantry Brigade and the 5th Australian Division.
