Description
CFS.5 Deperdussin training aircraft of the Australian Flying Corps following a crash at Point Cook which has broken its fuselage longerons and splintered its propellor blade. The repairs made following the crash are still evident on the Memorial's aircraft. Note also the aircraft had been used without tyres on the wheels.
In 1920 the aircraft was transferred to the Australian War Museum (later named the Australian War Memorial.) (This photograph is from the album of Captain James Brake, No. 2 Squadron, AFC. See P10814)
