Description

Group portrait of men of the 3rd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR) seated on and standing in front of their Bushmasters at Kamp Holland (Multinational Base Tarin Kowt) Uruzgan province, Afghanistan. They are joined in this image by men of the 2/14th Light Horse Regiment (Queensland Mounted Infantry) with their ASLAV's (at each end of group) and seven Dutch soldiers seated upon a Royal Netherlands Army operated Panzerhaubitze 2000 (abbreviated PzH 2000). In April 2008 an infantry company was deployed by 3RAR to Uruzgan province as part of Reconstruction Task Force 4. Composed of 41 Australian milit ary units, the task force’s mission was to conduct protected reconstruction operations as part of the Dutch-led Task Force Uruzgan. It successfully developed health, education, and security infrastructure, including the construction of bridges at key river crossings throughout the province and beyond the task force’s area of operations. Upon the mission’s completion 3RAR returned to Australia in October 2008. This is a digitally combined panorama of P07964.034, P07964.061 and P07964.062 and P07964.066.
