Studio Portrait of 283378 Flying Officer (FO) Colin Kenneth Matheson, RAAF, 211 Squadron, RAF. FO Matheson enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) on 23 October 1941. Captured in Java, FO Matheson spent over three years as a prisoner of war (POW) of the Japanese and worked on the Burma Thailand Railway. FO Matheson returned to Australia aboard SS Highland Chieftain and was discharged from the 5th Medical Rehabilitation Unit on 19 February 1946.
