German Pattern 1911 Naval Marine Artillery Sidearm and Scabbard
Description
German Pattern 1911 Naval Marine Artillery sidearm and scabbard. The hilt is a steel half basket, three bar guard with ribbed wooden grips and a plain backstrap. The blade with a single fuller to each side, is similar to the Mauser 1898 bayonet that swells out to 35 mm towards the point. The ricasso is stamped SIMSON & Co SUHL and there is a crown over M (marine) proof mark on the back edge. The all steel scabbard is painted black and has a tear drop frog stud near the throat which is held in place with a single screw.
