Collection relating to the Second World War service of NX45755 Private (Pte) Ralph Schofield Corderoy, 2/20 Battalion AIF, who died of illness in Japan whilst a prisoner of war of the Japanese on 29 January 1944. Comprises original pocket size diary kept by Pte Corderoy from 9 October 1943 until 13 January 1944, a letter sent in 1945 from the Australian Military Forces Records Office advising Pte Corderoy's mother of her son's death, a letter dated 1948 from 2/20th Battalion Association with accompanying photographs of Pte Corderoy's grave in Japan, a battalion Christmas card 1941, and a souvenir postcard that has the appearance of currency with the inclusion of two small photographs of Pte Corderoy and his girlfriend.
