Enemy shell case trench art presented to Lt Huggett by members of his company of the 2/13 Bn. The case bears the inscription '2/13 Bn, Tobruk, 1941'. The headstamps on the case read '149/13' (the calibre and model number of the gun); 'ANS' (Ansaldo, the manufacturer); and contained within an inscribed circle, the initials 'UPVC' under a crown, and over a '3' (unknown).

History / Summary

The inscription on the case was tapped out with a hammer and punch during the siege mainly to kill time during the day whilst awaiting the customary barrage at night.
