Model of 8th Division Memorial at Bathurst, NSW
Description
This sculpture is a model of the 8th Division Memorial at Bathurst in New South Wales which commemorates the AIF Malaya and the 8th Australian Division. It consists of a granite base and 'blade' rising from the base. The warrior's blade, which had been tested for battle, found ready, and then stamped with the armourer's mark 'the 8 and the corrs'. The blade, with its missing point, symbolises the Division. The broken blade leaves the 8 partly defaced, but clearly identifiable, for the Division was not broken.
