Description
Six examples of pressed flowers from Greece and Austria, including an eidelweiss. The flowers are encapsualted in a mylar sleeve for preservation.
History / Summary
These flowers were collected and pressed by NX1391 Private Alfred John Stone, 2/2 Battalion. Born in Bungendore, NSW in September 1918, Stone enlisted in the AIF from Newcastle on 8 November 1939. Captured during the fighting in Greece, Stone and his fellow prisoners were marched by the Germans through Greece to Austria. These flowers were collected along the way. Stone was released after the war and was discharged on 12 April 1946.
