Rocket whistle
Description
Metal rocket consisting of detachable head designed to create a whistle in flight, a main body section (length 22-cm. diameter . 3.5-cm.) marked "BMO 10/18"; and a hollow spigot tail. Overall length 41 cm.
History / Summary
Experimental models (probably full scale) designed by Capt. William H. G. Geake OBE., an Australian inventor who was employed in the British munitions inventors department. Whilst a member of the A.I.F. during the 1914- 1918 war. Geake invented a rocket message carrier, and the "Geake gun" which is believed to have been a bomb for use in trench warfare. Much of his experimental work was carried out at "Claremont", Esher in England.
