Trophy : 2nd Australian Infantry Brigade
Description
Silver trophy cup with engraved floral designs. The cup bears a Roman or Greek female figure on top and features two thin curved handles. The cups bears an inscription on the front that reads:
'2nd Infantry Brigade A.I.F. The Battalion Cup won by the 5th Battalion Broadmeadows. Tuesday Oct 6th 1915. Presented by Stewart Dawson and Co Aust Ltd. Melbourne'.
History / Summary
While training before embarkation the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th Battalions of the 2nd Infantry Brigade competed for this silver cup. It was awarded to the 5th Battalion AIF sports team at Broadmeadows Camp in Melbourne, 1914.
