Portrait of Private Patrick Thomas Andrew (Paddy or "Battle axe") Kealy (VX45209), 2/2 Australian Field Ambulance. He enlisted in early 1940 and joined his unit in April 1941. He saw action in the Middle East, Greece and Crete, and also in Syria, Ceylon, and New Guinea. Kealy was a great builder of morale and lived a varied and eventful life. He was a wool grazier in South Australia before the war and had previously been a pharmacist and a keen politician and bush lawyer.
