Study for background, Lae
Description
As seen from the artist's tent at Lae, on a wet day. A varied group of local foliage with little vegetable gardens surrounded with large pebbles in the foreground, typical of the gardens to be found in many camps. Tomatoes, radishes, lettuces and a variety of decorative plants and flowers were grown in this way.
