British positions near the air-strip, Iraklion
Description
Sketched at the town of Iraklion, also known as Heraklion. Showing the positions of the 14th (British) Infantry Brigade during the attack on the airfield by German parachutists and glider-borne troops in May 1941. The 2/4th Australian Infantry Battalion was attached to this Brigade and held positions in the distance near two hills similar shape and which they nicknamed "The Charlie".
